Club Soccer in Oregon: A Parent's Complete Guide (2026)

ClubScout Team

TL;DR: ClubScout has 17 Oregon records with confirmed league affiliations, and they describe roughly 12 real clubs, because three clubs appear more than once. Two facts shape everything below. First: all 7 Oregon clubs with a live profile are in the Portland metro. Salem, Eugene, and Bend have top-tier clubs in our data, but every one of those records is still in review. Second: Portland has two pro-club academies, Portland Timbers on the boys' side and Portland Thorns Academy on the girls' side, which changes what "the top of the ladder" means here. Unlike Washington, Oregon does have a few published dollar figures, all from two Portland-area clubs, and none of them is a competitive season fee.

Are you a club director in Oregon? There are 17 Oregon records in ClubScout's data, and 10 are still in review. Claim your club's profile to verify your information, respond to parent reviews, and make sure families find accurate details about your program.

What Makes Oregon Different

It is a Portland state, and our live data is even more Portland than the state is. Every one of the 7 approved Oregon profiles sits in the Portland metro: four in the city, one in Hillsboro, one in Clackamas, and the Timbers academy. The clubs outside Portland are real and they are not small. Our data has Eugene and Salem clubs with ECNL and MLS NEXT places, and a Girls Academy club in Bend. But all of those records are in review, so we can describe their league places and cannot link them yet. If you live south of Salem, read this guide as a map of what exists, not a finished directory.

The drives are long and one of them crosses a mountain. Portland to Salem is about 47 miles on I-5. Portland to Eugene is about 110. Those are flat interstate drives, and a Salem family can realistically consider a Portland club. Bend is a different story. It is roughly 160 miles from Portland over the Cascades, and the winter routes cross mountain passes. That is the same constraint we described in Washington, where the Cascades split the state. A Bend family's local club is its club.

Two pro-club academies sit at the top. Portland Timbers runs an MLS academy with MLS NEXT and National Academy League places, teams at U15, U16, and U18, plus a Residency Program and a Discovery Program. Portland Thorns Academy holds ECNL Girls and Pre-ECNL Girls places. Pro academies select players more than players choose them. Most Oregon families will never go through a Timbers or Thorns tryout, and that is fine. The useful question is which community club feeds them well, and that is a question to ask each club directly.

Girls Academy is the broader girls pathway, as it is in Washington. About five Oregon clubs hold a Girls Academy place, against two with ECNL Girls. Only one of the Girls Academy clubs has a live profile, Portland City United SC. The rest are in Bend, Eugene, Beaverton, and at Oregon Premier. Read ECNL vs Girls Academy before you assume the more familiar name is the better local fit.

The duplicate records decide how many clubs cover both boys and girls. Only one Oregon record holds a top-tier boys place and a top-tier girls place on the same row: Oregon Premier, with ECNL Boys and Girls Academy. Three more clubs would qualify if their duplicate records turn out to be one club. Eugene Metro has ECNL Boys on one record and Girls Academy on two others. Oregon Surf has ECNL Girls on one record and MLS NEXT on another. Westside Metros has Girls Academy on one record and MLS NEXT on two others. We think those are the same organizations, but we have not merged them, so we won't state the combined answer as fact. If you have a son and a daughter, ask each of these clubs which top-tier programs it runs for 2026–27.

Oregon clubs publish a few real prices, which is more than Washington. United PDX lists $140 for fall recreational soccer and $875 for its Youth Development Academy summer and fall season. Eastside Timbers lists $150 for 10 sessions of its Eastside Technical Academy and $12 a session for drop-in futsal. None of those is a competitive travel season fee, so the table further down is still modeled. The published numbers anchor the bottom of it.

Leagues Active in Oregon

Listed from most competitive to least.

Top-Tier National Leagues

MLS NEXT: Two Oregon clubs with live profiles hold MLS NEXT places: Portland Timbers and Hillsboro Rush. Three more records are in review: Oregon Surf SC in Salem, and Westside Metros FC and Westside Metros FC South in the Beaverton area. For how MLS NEXT compares with ECNL, read MLS NEXT vs ECNL.

ECNL Boys: Four Oregon clubs compete in ECNL Boys: FC Portland and United PDX, plus two in review, Eugene Metro and Oregon Premier. Eugene Metro is the only ECNL Boys place outside the Portland metro in our data.

ECNL Girls: Two clubs: Portland Thorns Academy and Oregon Surf, whose record is in review. The Oregon Surf record lists Salem as its city, but its own headquarters address is on SW Beaverton-Hillsdale Highway in Portland. Ask where your daughter's team would actually train.

Girls Academy: Portland City United SC is the one Girls Academy club with a live profile. In review: Bend FC in Bend, two Eugene Metro records (Eugene Metro FC and Eugene Metro Futbol Club), Oregon Premier, and Westside Metros in Beaverton. Bend FC is the only top-tier option of any kind in Central Oregon in our data. Girls Academy vs DPL covers the tier below.

The Oregon Middle: ECNL RL and Pre-ECNL

ECNL RL Boys and ECNL RL Girls: Six clubs on the boys' side and four on the girls'. With live profiles: Eastside Timbers and United PDX on both sides, plus FC Portland and Portland City United SC on the boys' side. In review: Eugene Metro (both sides), Oregon Premier (boys), and Oregon Surf (girls). Regional conferences keep most league play in the Northwest. Our ECNL RL vs EDP vs NECSL comparison explains what the tier demands.

Pre-ECNL Boys and Pre-ECNL Girls: The U9–U12 feeder. Eastside Timbers and United PDX run it on both sides, FC Portland on the boys' side, and Portland Thorns Academy on the girls' side. Eugene Metro and Oregon Premier (both sides) and Oregon Surf (girls) are in review. Proportionally that is a deeper younger layer than Washington's, where only 6 of 25 clubs run Pre-ECNL.

Regional and Tier-2 Leagues

NPL (National Premier Leagues): One Oregon club, Oregon Premier, whose profile is in review.

National Academy League: One club, Portland Timbers.

State and regional leagues: Below all of the above, OYSA sanctions the state and regional play where most Oregon travel soccer happens. Club records mention the OYSA Development League at United PDX and the Tualatin Valley Youth Soccer League (TVYSL) and a Multicultural League at Hillsboro Rush. We don't carry any of those club by club yet. If a club's site names one and our profile doesn't, that is a gap in our data, not a contradiction. For the full landscape, see Compare All Youth Soccer Leagues and the youth soccer glossary.

The Regions

Portland Metro

All 7 live profiles, plus the Westside Metros records in review. This is where the choice is.

Key characteristics:

  • Both pro-club academies and every live top-tier profile in the state
  • Real cross-club choice: Westside, city, and East County each have at least one club with a full ladder
  • The constraint is traffic and river crossings, not distance. Map the actual drive at 5:30 PM on a Tuesday before you commit.

Hillsboro Rush (Hillsboro): MLS NEXT. Formerly Hillsboro Soccer Club, serving Hillsboro since 1975, with nearly 3,000 registered players from age 4 to 19. The club added MLS NEXT for U13–U19 boys starting in the 2025–26 season. Below that it runs NextGen for U10 and younger, a competitive program for U11–U19, recreational soccer from kindergarten through 8th grade, winter futsal, and a College Advisory Program. It is part of the Rush network of 110+ clubs. Director of Coaches Oscar Monteblanco and Director of Methodology Joe Sottile both hold National A licenses. Girls Technical Director Bri Miyama played at the University of Portland. Note that only the MLS NEXT place is confirmed in our league data, so ask what league the girls' competitive teams play in.

Eastside Timbers (Clackamas): ECNL RL Boys, ECNL RL Girls, Pre-ECNL Boys, Pre-ECNL Girls. A 501(c)(3) with 2,800+ players and a founding member of the Portland Timbers Alliance. It owns and runs its own sports complex, plus the Oregon Premier Futsal indoor facility on SE Jennifer Street in Clackamas. A club that owns its fields usually means fewer surprise venue changes and less field congestion at training. Programs run from recreational and Youth Academy through fall and winter competitive, with TOPSoccer for players with disabilities and a College Advisory Program. Boys Director of Coaching Jeff Castagnola holds an A license and has 20+ years of coaching. Carly Copplestone is Technical Director and General Manager, and Greg Pfleger leads the girls' side. This is also one of two Oregon clubs that publish real prices: $150 for 10 Technical Academy sessions (U8–U18) and $12 for drop-in futsal.

United PDX (Portland): ECNL Boys, ECNL RL Boys, ECNL RL Girls, Pre-ECNL Boys, Pre-ECNL Girls. Five confirmed places and a full ladder, from Mighty Mites and recreational soccer through a Youth Development Academy for U8–U10 and a competitive Academy for U11–U19. Training runs at the Grant High School turf, West Hills Christian, and Rose City West Futsal. TOPSoccer, a College ID Camp, and a United PDX Gorge program round it out. It publishes the most useful fee data in the state: $140 for fall rec, $875 for the Youth Development Academy summer and fall season (two training sessions a week, summer jamborees, and fall league play), and $350 for a week of summer camp. The club did not publish tryout dates we could read. It does hold a Media Day for its ECNL, ECNL RL, Premier, and YDA teams at Rose City West Futsal in August and September.

FC Portland (Portland): ECNL Boys, ECNL RL Boys, Pre-ECNL Boys. A boys' ladder at three levels. Program detail on our record is thin. The league data is solid, and everything else needs a call.

Portland City United SC (Portland): Girls Academy, ECNL RL Boys. The only Oregon Girls Academy club with a live profile. Program detail on our record is limited.

Portland Thorns Academy (Portland): ECNL Girls, Pre-ECNL Girls. The girls' academy tied to Portland's NWSL side, and one of two ECNL Girls clubs in the state. Program detail on our record is limited, and its profile text needs correcting, which we note in the data gaps section. Trust the league places above, which are confirmed.

Portland Timbers (Portland): MLS NEXT, National Academy League. The MLS club's academy, with teams at U15, U16, and U18, a Residency Program, a Discovery Program for identifying players, and Timbers2 as the professional reserve side above it. This is a selection pathway, not a club you sign up for.

Three Beaverton-area records are in review: Westside Metros (Girls Academy), Westside Metros FC (MLS NEXT), and Westside Metros FC South (MLS NEXT, no city recorded).

Salem and the Mid-Valley

Two records, both in review and both named Oregon Surf. Oregon Surf (ECNL Girls, ECNL RL Girls, Pre-ECNL Girls) and Oregon Surf SC (MLS NEXT) are probably one club. The fuller record describes a 501(c)(3) with 15 national championships, 29 regional championships, and 1,000+ academic scholars among its alumni. It says financial aid is available, and a 2026–27 player interest form is on its site. Its headquarters address is in Portland, so confirm which training site your kid's team would use before you plan the drive.

Eugene and the Southern Willamette Valley

Three records, all in review and all named Eugene Metro. One holds ECNL Boys, ECNL RL Boys, ECNL RL Girls, Pre-ECNL Boys, and Pre-ECNL Girls. Two others hold Girls Academy. If these are one club, as we expect, Eugene has a top-tier option on both sides and a full younger ladder, about 110 miles from the nearest alternative in Portland. None of the three records has a website or program detail yet.

Central Oregon

One record in review: Bend FC, with a Girls Academy place. It is the only top-tier place east of the Cascades in our data. A second Bend record exists, but it is filed under the wrong state (see the data gaps section).

What to expect at this level: regional and national showcases, travel beyond the Northwest, and year-round programs. Modeled annual cost runs $3,000 to $6,500+ before tournament fees, kit, and family travel. See our tryout preparation guide.

The one Oregon record below the top tier is Eastside Timbers in Clackamas, which holds ECNL RL Boys, ECNL RL Girls, Pre-ECNL Boys, and Pre-ECNL Girls places. For most families, that tier is the right level, and Eastside is one of the most fully described clubs in the state.

What This Means If You're Searching for a Club

If you're on the Westside (Beaverton, Hillsboro, Tigard): Hillsboro Rush is the live MLS NEXT option with a real bottom rung, and the Westside Metros records will add more once they clear review. Compare coaches and the drive, then ask the girls' side which league it plays in.

If you're in the city: United PDX and FC Portland both run ECNL Boys ladders. Portland City United SC and Portland Thorns Academy are the two girls' top-tier options, in two different leagues. Our guide to choosing a club is built for this kind of narrowing.

If you're in East County or Clackamas: Eastside Timbers owns its complex and a futsal facility, and holds ECNL RL Boys, ECNL RL Girls, Pre-ECNL Boys, and Pre-ECNL Girls places. For a family with two kids at different levels, that is a strong local answer.

If you're in Vancouver, WA or near the river: Columbia Premier SC in Vancouver holds ECNL Boys and Girls Academy places and is a realistic alternative for north Portland families. Our Washington guide covers it.

If you're in Salem or Eugene: the clubs exist, but our profiles don't yet. Oregon Surf and Eugene Metro both hold top-tier places. Call them, and ask about training sites, because a Salem club with a Portland headquarters may split teams across the two.

If you're in Bend: Bend FC is the one top-tier record, on the girls' side. Before you choose a Portland club instead, price the drive honestly. Four round trips a week over a mountain pass does not survive an Oregon winter.

If you have a daughter: Oregon leans Girls Academy, as Washington does. In Portland, the ECNL Girls route is Portland Thorns Academy.

The live Girls Academy route is Portland City United SC. Read ECNL vs Girls Academy and our girls club soccer guide. The coach matters more than the league name.

If you just moved here: EDP and NECSL, which dominate the Northeast, have no Oregon presence in our data. ECNL RL is roughly where those leagues sat in your old state. Oregon high school soccer runs in the fall for both boys and girls, so the overlap with the club fall season is real. See Can My Kid Play Club AND High School Soccer? and ask each club for its policy, because none of our Oregon records publishes one.

What Club Soccer in Oregon Actually Costs

No Oregon club in our data publishes a competitive travel season fee. The table below is modeled from our published cost guides and comparable clubs elsewhere in the database. The one exception is the youth academy row, which uses United PDX's published price.

Level Estimated Annual Range Basis
MLS NEXT $3,500–$6,500+ Modeled
ECNL Boys / ECNL Girls $3,500–$6,000 Modeled
Girls Academy $3,000–$6,000 Modeled
ECNL RL $2,500–$4,500 Modeled
National Premier Leagues $2,500–$4,500 Modeled
OYSA premier / state play $1,500–$3,000 Modeled
Pre-ECNL / select (U9–U12) $1,200–$2,500 Modeled
Youth academy (U8–U10) $875 per summer-and-fall season Published by United PDX
Recreational $140 per fall season Published by United PDX

Add uniform kit ($150–$400 in year one), tournament fees ($500–$1,500), and family travel ($300–$1,500+, more if your conference reaches into Washington and Idaho). Plan for the high end your first year. Pro-academy costs differ from club costs. Ask the Timbers and Thorns academies directly what a family pays.

What we did verify:

  • United PDX prices its Youth Development Academy at $875 for summer and fall, including two training sessions a week, summer jamborees, and fall league play. Summer camp is $350 a week for ages 6–12.
  • Eastside Timbers sells extra training by the session: $150 for 10 Technical Academy sessions and $12 for drop-in futsal. That is add-on training, not a team fee.
  • Financial aid is published at Oregon Surf, whose record is in review. Most clubs won't mention aid unless you ask. Ask.

On uniforms: most clubs run a two-year kit cycle. Ask whether 2026–27 is year one or year two before you order. In year one, buy what fits now instead of sizing up. In year two, replace only the pieces your kid has outgrown.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why does this guide list 17 records but only about 12 clubs?

Because three Oregon clubs appear more than once in our data. Eugene Metro has three records, Westside Metros has three, and Oregon Surf has two. Each record holds different league places, which is how duplicates usually form: one source lists a club's ECNL teams, another lists its Girls Academy teams. We have not merged them, so we list each record's confirmed leagues separately rather than guess at the combined picture.

Which Oregon club is best for a boys player?

There isn't one answer, and geography narrows it fast. In Portland, United PDX and FC Portland hold ECNL Boys places. Hillsboro Rush is the MLS NEXT option on the Westside, and Portland Timbers is the pro academy above everything. In East County, Eastside Timbers runs ECNL RL. Outside Portland, Eugene Metro and Oregon Surf are the top-tier records, both in review. Start with the drive, then the coach.

When do Oregon clubs hold tryouts?

Mostly spring, and MLS NEXT and ECNL clubs can start as early as April. Our Oregon records publish very little about dates. Oregon Surf has a 2026–27 player interest form on its site. United PDX holds a Media Day in August and September, which is not a tryout. Check each club's site directly rather than assuming a statewide date.

How much does club soccer cost in Oregon?

At the bottom, we have real numbers: $140 for a fall rec season and $875 for a youth academy season at United PDX. Above that, nobody publishes. Plan on roughly $2,500–$4,500 for ECNL RL and $3,000–$6,500+ for the national tier, plus kit, tournaments, and travel. Those are modeled figures. Ask every club three questions: what is the full-season total, what is not included, and is fundraising mandatory.

Does a coach's license tell me the club is good?

Not by itself. Some Oregon clubs publish real credentials: two National A licenses at the top of Hillsboro Rush and an A-licensed boys director at Eastside Timbers. That is a useful signal and no more. A C-licensed coach who connects with 12-year-olds and runs an organized session beats a higher-licensed coach who can't. Go watch a training session, ask whether your kid can join one or two on a trial basis, and count how long the kids stand in line. See how to evaluate a coach and our coaching licenses explainer.

What Our Oregon Data Doesn't Tell You Yet

We'd rather name the gaps than write around them:

  • 10 of 17 records are still in review, so they have no live profile. That includes every record outside the Portland metro, which is why Salem, Eugene, and Bend look empty on the site. Their league data is confirmed. The profiles aren't published yet.
  • Three probable duplicate groups: Eugene Metro (3 records), Westside Metros (3), and Oregon Surf (2). Until we merge them, their league places stay split across records.
  • Some Oregon clubs are filed under Maine. At least nine records whose own text or address places them in Oregon sit under Maine in our data, including SESC Southeast Soccer Club, ALBION SC Portland in Tigard, Lake Oswego Soccer Club, Clackamas United Soccer Club, F.C. Portland Soccer Academy in Hillsboro, and a second Bend FC record. Portland, Oregon and Portland, Maine were confused upstream. Those clubs are missing from every count in this guide.
  • Two records have no city: Oregon Premier and Westside Metros FC South. Oregon Premier's website blocked our crawler. Oregon Premier is also the name of Eastside Timbers' futsal facility, and we have not confirmed whether the two are related.
  • Oregon Surf's recorded city is Salem, but its headquarters address is in Portland. Ask which site your kid's team trains at.
  • Portland Thorns Academy's profile description names the wrong league. The confirmed places are ECNL Girls and Pre-ECNL Girls, and the text will be corrected.
  • Westside Metros' listed website no longer hosts a soccer club, so nothing beyond league places could be verified for that record.
  • No OYSA, TVYSL, or other state-league affiliations are recorded. A large share of real Oregon travel soccer happens there, and none of it is in our league data yet.

If you run one of these clubs, claiming your profile is the fastest way to fix it.
