Club Soccer in Arizona: A Parent's Complete Guide (2026)

ClubScout Team

TL;DR: ClubScout has 24 Arizona records with confirmed league data, and 8 of them have a live profile. Three facts shape everything below. First: Arizona is an MLS NEXT state. Eight records hold MLS NEXT places, against two with ECNL Boys. Second: on the girls' side, DPL is the broad tier, with nine records, more than ECNL Girls and Girls Academy combined. Third: one Arizona club publishes its whole fee schedule. SC Del Sol lists a $300 registration fee plus training fees from $900 to $2,150, including its MLS NEXT teams. That is real price data for a top-tier boys program, which almost no state in our data has.

Are you a club director in Arizona? There are 24 Arizona records in ClubScout's data, and 16 are still in review. Claim your club's profile to verify your information, respond to parent reviews, and make sure families find accurate details about your program.

What Makes Arizona Different

It is a Phoenix state, and the metro is wide. Of the 19 Arizona records we can place, 14 are in the Phoenix metro. Surprise in the far West Valley to Gilbert in the East Valley is roughly 50 miles on the freeways. A club 25 miles away can be an hour at 5:30 PM. Tucson is about 115 miles south on I-10. Our data has nothing yet in Flagstaff, Prescott, or Yuma.

MLS NEXT runs deeper here than ECNL Boys. Eight Arizona records hold MLS NEXT places. Only two hold ECNL Boys, and both are in review. A boys player chasing the top tier here will usually be choosing between MLS NEXT clubs. Read MLS NEXT vs ECNL with that in mind.

On the girls' side, DPL is the broad tier. Nine Arizona records hold DPL places. That compares with three for ECNL Girls and four for Girls Academy. For most Arizona girls, the realistic competitive league will be DPL, and that is not a consolation prize. Girls Academy vs DPL explains how the two tiers relate.

Several clubs cover boys and girls at the top tier. Three Arizona records hold a top-tier boys place and a top-tier girls place on the same row. Phoenix Premier FC holds MLS NEXT and Girls Academy places. SC Del Sol holds MLS NEXT and Girls Academy places. Arizona Arsenal, whose record is in review, holds ECNL Boys and ECNL Girls places. If you have a son and a daughter, that matters more than any ranking.

Pro clubs reach into the youth game. Three names on Arizona records belong to professional clubs. Phoenix Rising is the city's USL Championship club. RSL Arizona and the RSL-AZ records carry the Real Salt Lake name, and two of those records describe themselves as part of the Real Salt Lake Arizona family. Utah Royals FC AZ carries the name of Utah's NWSL side. A pro name on the crest does not tell you who coaches your kid's team. Ask that directly.

The heat sets the calendar. Phoenix summers routinely top 105°F, so summer training moves to early mornings, evenings, or indoors. Arizona high school soccer is a winter sport, so the overlap with the club season is real for both boys and girls. See Can My Kid Play Club AND High School Soccer? and ask each club for its policy, because none of our Arizona records publishes one.

Leagues Active in Arizona

Listed from most competitive to least.

Top-Tier National Leagues

Fourteen records hold a place in MLS NEXT, ECNL, or Girls Academy, and five of them have live profiles. The full list is in the top-tier table below. The National Academy League, a second boys' academy league, appears on three of the same records.

The Arizona Middle: DPL, ECNL RL, and Pre-ECNL

DPL (Development Player League): Nine records, the most of any Arizona league. With live profiles: Phoenix Premier FC, RSL-AZ West Valley, and Phoenix Rising FC North Valley. In review: Arizona Arsenal Soccer Club, Arizona Soccer Club, Pima County Surf Soccer Club, RSL-AZ North, RSL-AZ South, and RSL-AZ Southern AZ.

ECNL RL Boys and ECNL RL Girls: Four records on the boys' side and five on the girls'. Playmaker Futbol Academy in Scottsdale is the live profile on the boys' side. Utah Royals FC AZ is the live profile on the girls' side. In review: FC Arizona in Mesa, CCV Stars, and Arizona Arsenal on both sides, plus Phoenix Rising Academy on the girls' side. Our ECNL RL vs EDP vs NECSL comparison explains what the tier demands.

Pre-ECNL Boys and Pre-ECNL Girls: The U9–U12 feeder, at the same clubs as ECNL RL. Playmaker Futbol Academy runs it on the boys' side and Utah Royals FC AZ on the girls' side. FC Arizona, CCV Stars, and Arizona Arsenal are in review on both sides, and Phoenix Rising Academy on the girls' side.

State and Regional Play

Below all of the above, the Arizona Soccer Association sanctions the state and regional play where much of Arizona travel soccer happens. We don't carry those leagues club by club yet. If a club's site names one and our profile doesn't, that is a gap in our data, not a contradiction. For the full landscape, see Compare All Youth Soccer Leagues and the youth soccer glossary.

The Regions

Central and North Phoenix, Scottsdale, and Paradise Valley

The densest part of the state, with five live profiles and the Phoenix Rising and Arizona Arsenal records in review.

All three live MLS NEXT profiles are here. The constraint is the freeways, not distance, so map the drive at 5:30 PM on a Tuesday before you commit.

SC Del Sol (North Phoenix, Scottsdale, Paradise Valley): MLS NEXT, Girls Academy, National Academy League. More than 800 players across about 50 teams, ages 3 to 18. The club says every team at every level is coached by full-time professional coaches, with no parent volunteers. The ladder runs from Mini Kickers (ages 3–4) and a Junior Academy through a competitive program, a Boys Pre-MLS NEXT tier at U11–U12, and two MLS NEXT tiers at U13–U19. President Chris Diana and Executive Director Mark Lowe lead the club. Most important for families: it publishes its fees, covered in the cost section below.

Phoenix Premier FC (Phoenix): MLS NEXT, Girls Academy, DPL. Teams from U7 through U19 for boys and girls, with academy, competitive, and development programs, including Pre MLS NEXT and Pre GA tiers below the top teams. The club also runs a Casa Grande program, about 50 miles south. Executive Director Ramiz Sabljic also directs girls' coaching, and Bobby Smith directs the boys' side. Tryouts run as ID Sessions, with registration on the club's site.

Playmaker Futbol Academy (Scottsdale): ECNL RL Boys, Pre-ECNL Boys. A full pathway for boys and girls ages 4 to 18, in four tiers: Pre-Academy (ages 4–7), Youth Academy (ages 8–12), Competitive, and an Elite Platform. Julien Dragomir is Executive Director and Director of Coaching, and Chris Aquino directs the girls' side. Only the boys' places are confirmed in our league data, so ask what league the girls' competitive teams play in.

RSL Arizona (Phoenix): MLS NEXT, National Academy League. Two of the strongest boys' leagues on one record. Program detail on our record is thin. The league data is solid, and everything else needs a call.

Phoenix Rising FC North Valley (Phoenix): DPL. A live profile with limited program detail. Two other Phoenix Rising records are in review: Phoenix Rising FC (MLS NEXT, National Academy League) and Phoenix Rising Academy (ECNL Girls, ECNL RL Girls, Pre-ECNL Girls). We have not confirmed how the three relate.

Two Phoenix records are in review and both named Arizona Arsenal. Arizona Arsenal (ECNL Boys, ECNL Girls, ECNL RL Boys, ECNL RL Girls, Pre-ECNL Boys, Pre-ECNL Girls) and Arizona Arsenal Soccer Club (DPL) are probably one club. If so, it is one of the most complete ECNL ladders in the state.

The West Valley

RSL-AZ West Valley (Surprise): DPL. The most fully described Arizona record. It serves Surprise, Goodyear, Peoria, Glendale, Buckeye, and Avondale, and trains at its own fields in Surprise. Programs run from recreational soccer through an academy for U6–U10, competitive teams, futsal, TOPSoccer for players with disabilities, and a College Advisory program. Technical Director Glen Butler holds a UEFA B license. Our record lists no city, but the club's own text places it in Surprise.

CCV Stars in Peoria is in review, with ECNL Boys, ECNL RL Boys, ECNL RL Girls, Pre-ECNL Boys, and Pre-ECNL Girls places. It is run by Christ's Church of the Valley.

The East Valley

No live profiles yet, and three records in review. FC Arizona in Mesa holds ECNL RL Boys, ECNL RL Girls, Pre-ECNL Boys, and Pre-ECNL Girls places. RSL Arizona Mesa holds an MLS NEXT place. Arizona Soccer Club, a 501(c)(3) in Gilbert serving Gilbert, Chandler, and Queen Creek, holds Girls Academy and DPL places. Treat the East Valley as underdescribed in our data, not empty.

Tucson and Southern Arizona

FC Tucson (Tucson): Girls Academy. Founded in 2010, with men's, women's, and youth teams. It is the only live top-tier profile in Southern Arizona.

Two more FC Tucson records are in review. FC Tucson Youth Soccer Club holds an MLS NEXT place. FC Tucson Youth SC has no league rows yet. These are probably one organization with FC Tucson, but we have not merged them. Pima County Surf Soccer Club and RSL-AZ Southern AZ are also in review, both with DPL places and no city recorded.

Not Yet Placed

Five records have no city and no text that places them. Four are in review: Barca Residency Academy and Monarchs AZ (MLS NEXT), and RSL-AZ North and RSL-AZ South (DPL).

The fifth is live: Utah Royals FC AZ, the girls' ECNL club. Ask where its teams train before you plan the drive.

What to expect at this level: regional and national showcases, travel across the Southwest, and year-round programs.

Below the top tier, the live options are Playmaker Futbol Academy in Scottsdale, RSL-AZ West Valley in Surprise, and Phoenix Rising FC North Valley. For most families, that tier is the right level.

What This Means If You're Searching for a Club

If you're in North Phoenix, Scottsdale, or Paradise Valley: SC Del Sol and Phoenix Premier FC both run top-tier programs on the boys' and girls' sides. Playmaker Futbol Academy is the Scottsdale option at the ECNL RL tier. Our guide to choosing a club is built for this kind of narrowing.

If you're in the West Valley: RSL-AZ West Valley in Surprise is the most fully described club in the state, with a full ladder from rec to DPL. Price the drive honestly before choosing a Scottsdale club three nights a week.

If you're in the East Valley: our profiles are thin here. FC Arizona, RSL Arizona Mesa, and Arizona Soccer Club all hold confirmed league places and are in review. Call them, and ask which league each team plays in for 2026–27.

If you're in Tucson: FC Tucson is the live Girls Academy option. On the boys' side, the MLS NEXT record is FC Tucson Youth Soccer Club, in review. With Phoenix 115 miles away, a Tucson family's local club is almost always the right call.

If you have a daughter: start with DPL, the broadest girls' tier in Arizona. Then compare the top tier: Girls Academy at SC Del Sol, Phoenix Premier FC, or FC Tucson.

ECNL Girls is the other top-tier route, at Utah Royals FC AZ. Read ECNL vs Girls Academy and our girls club soccer guide. The coach matters more than the league name.

If you just moved here: EDP and NECSL, which dominate the Northeast, have no Arizona presence in our data. ECNL RL and DPL are roughly where those leagues sat in your old state.

What Club Soccer in Arizona Actually Costs

One Arizona club publishes a full fee schedule, and it changes the picture. SC Del Sol charges a $300 registration fee at every age, plus a training fee that depends on the age group:

SC Del Sol program Training fee With $300 registration Season
Boys U13–U19 MLS NEXT Homegrown $2,150 $2,450 Aug–Jun
Boys U13–U14 MLS NEXT Academy $2,150 $2,450 Aug–Jun
Boys U15–U19 MLS NEXT Academy $2,050 $2,350 Aug–Jun
U11–U12 $1,500 $1,800 Aug–May
U9–U10 $1,300 $1,600 Sep–May
Boys U7–U8 $900 $1,200 Sep–May

Those are club fees, not the full cost of a season. The published schedule does not say what it includes, so ask about uniforms, tournament entry, and travel. But it is well below what we model for MLS NEXT elsewhere, so it is a useful anchor when another club quotes you a number.

No other Arizona club in our data publishes a fee. The table below is modeled from our published cost guides and comparable clubs elsewhere in the database, adjusted for SC Del Sol's real numbers.

Level Estimated Annual Range Basis
MLS NEXT $2,350–$6,000+ Low end published by SC Del Sol; high end modeled
ECNL Boys / ECNL Girls $3,000–$6,000 Modeled
Girls Academy $2,500–$5,500 Modeled
ECNL RL / DPL $2,000–$4,500 Modeled
State and regional play $1,500–$3,000 Modeled
U11–U12 competitive $1,800 Published by SC Del Sol
U7–U10 competitive $1,200–$1,600 Published by SC Del Sol

Add uniform kit ($150–$400 in year one), tournament fees ($500–$1,500), and family travel ($300–$1,500+, more if your conference reaches into California, Nevada, or Utah). Plan for the high end your first year.

On uniforms: most clubs run a two-year kit cycle. Ask whether 2026–27 is year one or year two before you order. In year one, buy what fits now instead of sizing up. In year two, replace only the pieces your kid has outgrown.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which Arizona club is best for a boys player?

There isn't one answer, and geography narrows it fast. In North Phoenix and Scottsdale, SC Del Sol, Phoenix Premier FC, and RSL Arizona hold MLS NEXT places. Playmaker Futbol Academy is the live ECNL RL option. Outside central Phoenix, the top-tier boys' records are in review. Start with the drive, then the coach.

When do Arizona clubs hold tryouts?

Mostly spring, and MLS NEXT and ECNL clubs can start as early as April. Our Arizona records publish very little about dates. Phoenix Premier FC runs ID Sessions with registration on its site, SC Del Sol holds separate girls' and boys' tryouts, and RSL-AZ West Valley books tryouts through its site. Check each club directly rather than assuming a statewide date.

How much does club soccer cost in Arizona?

At SC Del Sol, we have real numbers: $1,200 for a U7–U8 season and up to $2,450 for MLS NEXT, including registration. Those are club fees only. Elsewhere, nobody publishes. Plan on roughly $2,000–$4,500 for ECNL RL and DPL and $2,500–$6,000+ for the national tier, plus kit, tournaments, and travel. Ask every club for the full-season total and what it leaves out.

What Our Arizona Data Doesn't Tell You Yet

We'd rather name the gaps than write around them:

  • 16 of 24 records are still in review, so they have no live profile. That includes every record in the East Valley, which is why it looks empty on the site. Their league data is confirmed. The profiles aren't published yet.
  • Nine records have no city. For two of them, the club's own text fills the gap: Arizona Soccer Club is in Gilbert and RSL-AZ West Valley is in Surprise. The rest are listed under "Not Yet Placed" and in Southern Arizona above.
  • Probable duplicates are unmerged. Arizona Arsenal (2 records) and FC Tucson (3) are the clearest cases. Phoenix Rising (3) and the RSL-AZ name (6) may be duplicates or real affiliates, and we have not confirmed which.
  • FC Tucson Youth SC has no league rows. Its description names a league our data does not confirm, so we leave it out of every league count.
  • Some profile descriptions name the wrong league. The text on Utah Royals FC AZ and Phoenix Rising Academy describes boys' ECNL teams, while their confirmed places are all on the girls' side. Trust the confirmed places in this guide. The text will be corrected.
  • Girls' leagues at Playmaker Futbol Academy are unconfirmed. The club fields girls' teams, but only its boys' places are in our league data.
  • No northern Arizona clubs are in our data. Flagstaff, Prescott, and Yuma families will find nothing here yet.
  • No Arizona Soccer Association league affiliations are recorded. A large share of real Arizona travel soccer happens there, and none of it is in our league data yet.

If you run one of these clubs, claiming your profile is the fastest way to fix it.
