About
Founded in 1878, YWCA Central Maine serves the Lewiston-Auburn area as a community organization focused on eliminating racism, empowering women, and promoting social justice. The organization operates from a facility at 130 East Avenue in Lewiston and offers programs including aquatics (featuring the only regulation-size, fully accessible public pool in the area), childcare services, health and wellness programs, and equity and justice initiatives. YWCA Central Maine serves up to 110 children daily and provided over $42,000 in scholarships for programs in 2025. The organization carries on a tradition of social action while providing accessible and culturally appropriate resources for the community.
