The Winston Prouty Center for Child and Family Development is located in Brattleboro, VT and has been serving Southern Vermont communities for over 50 years since 1969. Originally founded as First Chance, one of the first programs in the country for preschool children with special needs, it was named after Senator Winston Prouty who co-sponsored the Handicapped Children's Early Education Assistance Act of 1968. The center operates a NAEYC accredited 5 STAR Early Learning Center serving children ages 6 weeks through 5 years in an inclusive environment. Their comprehensive approach focuses on child and family development through early care and education combined with community-based services including Children's Integrated Services, family support, and housing assistance.
