Sport Club Portuguese

Sport Club Português is a Portuguese cultural organization founded in 1921 that has been a cornerstone of Newark's Portuguese community for over a century. Located at 55 Prospect Street in the historic Ironbound section of Newark, New Jersey, the club operates as a 501c(3) organization dedicated to preserving and promoting Portuguese culture, language, and traditions. The club offers soccer programs including their Ironbound Sport Club Português team that was crowned UPSL Northeast American Division 1 Champions. Beyond soccer, SCP provides diverse cultural programs including the Escola Luís de Camões Portuguese school, traditional folklore group Rancho Camponeses do Minho, and ProVerbo arts program. The club also operates facilities for events and rentals while maintaining a museum showcasing Portuguese heritage.
