About
Minnesota Thunder Academy (MTA) is a premier youth soccer club based in Richfield, Minnesota, competing in the ECNL Boys, ECNL Girls, ECNL-RL, and Minnesota NPL leagues. The club operates out of two training facilities: Academy of Holy Angels in Richfield and MTA Winter Park Training Complex in Eden Prairie. MTA offers a comprehensive player development pathway from toddler programs (Thunder Sparks, ages 2-4) through elite competitive programs (ECNL U13-U19), with a stated mission of developing the whole person, not just the soccer player. The coaching staff holds US Soccer, UEFA, and USC accreditations, with many coaches having played at Division 1, national, and professional levels. MTA claims to have developed more Division 1, professional, and US National Team players than any other soccer club in Minnesota, and invests in scholarship programs supporting approximately 10% of its athletes.

Tryout Schedule
MTA holds annual tryouts for the 2025-2026 season. A Juniors Tryout Prep Camp (U8-U12) is scheduled for July 7-9, 2026 at MTA Winter Park Training Complex (8:30am-11:30am). Boys & Girls ECNL Pre-Tryout Clinic is also offered. Tryout information and age group change details for the 2026-2027 season are available on the website.
